There was a young monkey living in the jungle. From time to time, the other young
animals would have foot races. Every time, the young monkey would be left behind
as the lions, gazelles, and wildebeests would approach the finish line.
The young monkey would practice and train late into the night, but still would never be able to pass the half way point
before one of the other animals would cross the finish line. After one race,
he went up to his mother, crying.
“Mom, I’ll never be able to run faster than the other animals.”
“Of course not, silly boy,” the mother said, “but challenge them to a race through the branches and
see who wins.”
